When an employee experiences personal or work-related issues, their performance can be affected. Perhaps you or others have noticed a change in the normal behaviour of an employee and naturally you are concerned. You can also see how this is placing additional pressure on other team members and affecting productivity levels and morale.
As a responsible employer, you want what’s best for your employees and the organisation. Setting up an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) gives your employees access to a counselling service for work or personal issues impacting their performance.
“It is estimated that nearly three in every ten employees will experience a mental health problem in any one year.” Mental Health Foundation
Working with your employees, to support them back to good mental health, is an increasingly popular and cost-effective intervention. Many employers have found that EAP counselling services are an investment that reduces the business costs associated with employee absence due to poor mental health.
I can work with you to control the cost of EAP counselling by agreeing on a suitable number of sessions you would like to offer your employees depending on the issue in hand.
“Mental health problems cost employers in the UK £30 billion a year through lost production, recruitment and absence.” ACAS
“Mental health problems cost a business just over £1,000 per person per year, up to 60% of that accounts for compromised performance.” MIND
As a business, you may need to manage a highly stressful or traumatic event such as a workplace redundancy, death of an employee, injury at work or the return to work of an employee after a long period of sickness absence.
CISM assists others in dealing with the physical or psychological symptoms associated with trauma and allows those involved with the incident to process the event and reflect on its impact.
This service can include pre-incident preparedness, acute crisis management and post-crisis follow-up to help people return to their daily routine more quickly and with less likelihood of experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder.

When your mental health begins to affect your work-life, you need to take action.

We’ll work together to identify whatever it is that’s holding you back, be that an issue in your personal life or at work. Using evidence based strategies we’ll equip you with the psychological tools you need to deal with the challenges you’re facing.
Before committing to a course of individual counselling sessions, it’s worth checking to see whether your employer will pay.
You can rest assured that your name won’t appear on any invoices or in any statistics or reports, even though the bills are paid for by your organisation. If any of the solutions we discuss require support from your employer, I would seek your permission to speak to the relevant person.
